Tales From Ground Zero-www.97se.com

Business When you say "Ground Zero" many people usually think of the recent tragedy of 9/11. However, ground zero refers to any point on the earth’s surface where an explosion occurs. It is often referred to in conjunction with earthquakes, epidemics, and other disasters. I want to change the meaning of this phrase and give it a makeover that would make any image consultant or PR representative proud. Have you ever heard of zero based thinking? Zero Based Thinking Zero-based thinking is a term coined by sales and motivational guru Brian Tracy in his book "Focal Point". It means that to evaluate a situation one considers the following question: "Knowing what I know now would I get into thus business/job/situation again?" If the answer is yes, then continue your evaluation of the situation and make the necessary changes. If the answer is no, then the next step should be to get out of the situation as fast as possible, i.e. going back to zero. Many people continue to do things that they think they should or are expected of them, even though they know that they would answer the question above with a "no". I was surfing the Internet and found this quote from Wayne Dyer: "If you focus on what others expect of you, you’ll continue to act on and attract more of what they desire for you. But when you can shift your inner thoughts to what you intend to create and attract into your life, you will no longer have to give mental energy to what others want for you." How do you use this in every day life? You begin to question everything in your life. Knowing what I know now, would I have bought that car? Knowing what I know now, would I continue to be friends with this person? Knowing what I know now, would I have eaten that fried Twinkie covered in chocolate? Zero based thinking has unlimited possibilities and this whole concept was derived from zero based budgeting. Zero Based Thinking and Your Wallet Can zero based thinking help me make more money in my business? Yes it can. Most small businesses if they do budgeting they just take last year’s budget and increase it by 10%. Well with zero based thinking and budgeting you would have to ask the question, "Knowing what I know now, would I spend my money on that?" For example, if you are budgeting $2,000 on a yellow page ad next year, instead of just planning to spend that money, you ask if it deserves to be in your budget. I guarantee if you do this you will find money that does not need to be spent. No Time for a Budget – Here is What To Do I know many of you small business owners, you do not create budgets. I’m not here to judge, but I will give you a way to use this that is less time intensive. When you are writing out your checks to pay employees, bills, etc. I want you to ask yourself that question. When you are writing checks for your employees think "Knowing what I know now, would I have hired this person and would I be paying them this amount?" When you are writing checks to vendors for supplies, "Knowing what I know now, would I buy my supplies from them?" When you are writing checks for your mortgage or rent, ask yourself the question. If your answer is no, then change it. If you consistently do this, you will save money, because before you write that $2,000 check for that yellow page ad and before you answer the question, you will have to think back and evaluate how many customers have you gotten from that ad. Do you continue to throw money out because everyone else in your industry has an ad in the yellow pages? If that is your reason for doing things, please reference the Wayne Dyer quote above. There are significant opportunities awaiting you if just adapt a zero based thinking approach. I have already saved $425 per month. What does all this have to do with Ground Zero? As I mentioned before ground zero is the starting point, it is the epicenter from which everything emanates. Let zero based thinking and this article be the ground zero to your success. I want this process to be the detonation to your explosion of achievement and victory, where the shockwaves are felt throughout your business, throughout your competitors, and throughout your industry. Knowing what you will know in the future, do you wish you would have listened to the advice in this article. Copyright (c) 2009 Aisha Jones Scheffel About the Author: 相关的主题文章:
