The Newtons started A Day on the Green as an opportunity for chart music lovers to enjoy their favourite recording artists, great food, and delicious local wines in natural, outdoor environments. As an alternative to crowded, smoky clubs or large, remote arenas, listening to music in the peaceful, open settings of A Day on the Greens events has propelled the festival to popular heights with serious music lovers. Running from October to March, A Day on the Green has developed a loyal fan base of festival followers who return each year, and it continues to attract new visitors who are drawn to the magnificent locations and star musical acts. The festival has become so successful that Australias own rock darlings, Cold Chisel, have already sold out several of this seasons planned performances, and Sades planned Perth show at Kings Park & Botanic Garden on December 6th has been moved to The Esplanade to accommodate ticket demand, but tickets are still widely available for most of the other concert events. Festival audiences at A Day on the Green are typically a slightly more mature crowd who favour a relaxed atmosphere spending a day with friends sharing picnic rugs, deck chairs, Eskys, fine wines, and spectacular festival music .
